Tanzania Photo Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Arusha in the evening. (Via KLM airlines) Russ will rendezvous with you at Kilimanjaro airport. Convene for a brief orientation and light dinner. Overnight in the African View Lodge.

Day 2: Orientation / Flash and Better Beamer Instruction / Game Drive to Arusha National Park
AM: Orientation: Discuss procedures at each camp (internet, etc), proper jeep protocol, tipping guidelines, securing valuables and cash, laundry options, get to know each other and answer all questions each participant may have.
Photo Instruction: Russ will work with everyone to go over camera settings to best capture action, discuss flash techniques, and explain how to use the Better Beamer.
PM: Game drive at Arusha National Park and practice using the flash techniques taught during the morning session to prepare us for our photography during the safari.
Overnight in the African View Lodge.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater Sopa Lodge
AM:  Leave Arusha and drive to the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge for lunch. (It’s a three hour drive)  We’ll stop along the way for any good photo ops.
PM  Afternoon and early evening game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater. Our focus will be the Big Five in action. 

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Sopa Lodge
AM + PM:  Spend the entire day in the Ngorongoro Crater. A box breakfast and lunch will be provided. The locations at which we picnic are scenic and provide many photo opportunities. 

Day 5: Lake Masek Deluxe Tented Camp
AM:  Sunrise game drive in the crater, picnic style breakfast and then make the drive to Lake Masek. We’ll make pictures on the way and enjoy a lunch at the camp dining room.
PM:  Game drive in the Ngorongoro Conservation area and Serengeti NP. Off road driving is allowed in this location to capture the action.

Day 6:  Lake Masek Deluxe Tented Camp
AM + PM:   Game drives in the Ngorongoro Conservation area and Serengeti NP area.  Off road driving is allowed in this location to capture the action.

Day 7:  Lake Masek Deluxe Tented Camp
AM + PM:   Game drives in the Ngorongoro Conservation area and Serengeti NP area.  Off road driving is allowed in this location to capture the action.

Day 8: Lake Masek Deluxe Tented Camp
AM + PM:   Game drives in the Ngorongoro Conservation area and Serengeti NP area.  Off road driving is allowed in this location to capture the action.

Day 10:  Mbugani Tented Camp
AM: Sunrise game drive on the way to the area of the central Serengeti.  While we make the drive, we’ll focus on the migration and other photo opportunities. 
PM: The afternoon game drive will find us in the Seronera Valley of the Serengeti.

Day 11: Mbugani Tented Camp
AM: Early morning to focus on lion activity at the Sametu and other nearby Kopjes.
PM: The afternoon game drive will focus on lions, cheetahs and other wildlife in the area in and around the Kopjes.

Day 13: Mbugani Tented Camp
AM: Early morning to focus on lion activity and other big cats at nearby Kopjes.
PM: The afternoon game drive will focus on lions, cheetahs and other species in the area. We’ll check the Kopjes for activity.

Day 12:  Kubu Kubu Deluxe Tented Camp
AM:  Depart for morning game drive in the central Seronera Valley. It’s known for great leopard, lion and cheetah encounters.
PM:  Capture the wildlife and action in the area. We’ll focus on the leopard, cheetah and lion.

Day 13:  Kubu Kubu Deluxe Tented Camp
AM:  Depart for morning game drive at the Retima Hippo Pool. Bring Monopod for this session as we can get out of the vehicles and walk to different view points.
PM:  Capture the wildlife and action in the area. We’ll focus on the leopard, cheetah and lion.

Day 14:
Early morning game drive. Catch our bush plane flight back to Arusha. Shop at the Cultural Heritage Center and enjoy a lunch.  A day room will be provided at The African View Lodge to shower and re-pack for the evening flight.  A late afternoon dinner is provided. Transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for trip back home.
